Savage Mojo at GenCon 2010!
Posted by: Anonymous on Thursday, August 05, 2010 - 07:05 AM EDT
|
Starting on Thursday, August 5th, you will be able to find Savage Mojo at Gen Con Indy 2010! Writer and new Suzerain Mojo Developer, Vickey A. Beaver, will be representing us at the Cubicle 7 booth in the Exhibit Hall!
In addition to Vickey, her husband, playtester, and rules contributor, Robert Beaver, will also be on hand to answer questions. The pair are scheduled to run a Savage Suzerain demo at Pinnacle’s Savage Saturday night at 8pm!
While you’re at Gen Con this weekend, you can also pick up an advance copy of Noir Knights at the Cubicle 7 booth (#315). Five of our Gamescapes will also be available for purchase! You can buy Scaling the Great Dragon, Ship Shape, Grassland, Wasteland and Desert Steppes!
And of course, if you’re wandering the halls you might be able to find other members of the Savage Mojo family that will be attending the con! You can meet one of the newest members of our family, artist Laura Pelick. Or you can stop by the Authors Avenue to chat with writer Jennifer Brozek, author of upcoming releases Shanghai Vampocalypse and Covert Ops!
In addition to the great crew that will already be at Gen Con this year, you can catch up with the much sought after artist, Jason Engle! If you’ve seen D&D 4th Edition, you’ve seen his work! Currently he’s working on one of our sets of Gamescapes called Dragonlands along with regular partner in crime artist Aaron Acevedo! Dragon lands will only be a dozen of the coolest dungeon maps to grace your gaming table! So if you see him, don’t hesitate to stop him and ask him about this awesome project!
If you have any questions or comments about our products or you just want to talk about gaming in general, please don’t hesitate to stop us! We hope to see you there!

Kickstart Your Mojo!

July 29, 2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kickstart Your Mojo!
Savage Mojo is at it again - giving you fresh, new options for your gaming pleasure! This time we're offering you an exciting way to get your hands on Dungeonlands, a dozen of the coolest dungeon maps you'll ever lay on your gaming table....
How are we doing that? By using the internet to its full potential! We've set up a project on Kickstarter (http://bit.ly/DungeonlandsKickstart), which allows you to pledge money to the project and get yours before anyone else.
What do you get? It depends on how much you pledge, but we're creating a dozen full dungeon levels for our Gamescapes line, each 24x32 inches, which you can print from PDF as 8x8 inch tiles and assemble on your tabletop. They'll eventually go on sale for about $6 each, but you can get a great deal - and you can save a lot of cash this way - by pledging money for the artists right now. In fact, you can be involved in the design, up to and including choosing the theme for an entire level! It's like getting a pro cartographer to illustrate your favorite dungeon crawl!
Who are the artists? Oh, only two of the most sought after cartographers in the industry. Aaron Acevedo (http://aaronace.com) and Jason Engle (hhttp://jaestudio.com). If you've seen stuff for Fourth Edition D&D, Deadlands, Legend of the Five Rings and many other games... you'll have probably seen their work. And it dazzles!
One more thing - if you head over and pledge to the project, you'll get your map tiles well before anyone else gets a chance to snap them up. Months earlier!
So why not support Aaron and Jason and get an amazing set of maps into the bargain?

[Kobold Quarterly] King of the Monsters Returns!
Posted by: Anonymous on Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 04:48 AM EDT
|
Just half a year ago, you witnessed the crowning of Kobold Quarterly’s first ever King of the Monsters: the spark and its designer Adam Daigle took on all comers and stood victorious. However, Monster Island is a dangerous place, and its rulers never last long…
Behold the King of the Monsters, the greatest and most glorious contest ever! Welcome to Kobold Quarterly’s second semiannual tournament of monster design where you, the fans, test your skills by designing amazing monsters that are evaluated by a panel of industry professionals and by the fans themselves, all for fame and prizes! It’s easy to enter the arena: you simply design a monster and submit it in.
Here’s how it works: To enter the contest, your monster submission MUST…
* Be sent to the King of the Monsters Contest no later than Friday, August 13th, by noon PST. (That’s only 3-1/2 weeks from now! It’s a little longer than last time, but we wanted to give Gen Con goers a little extra time.)
* Be submitted as a doc, docx, or rtf attachment. Read KotM2 Submission [insert monster name] in the email’s subject line. Your full name and contact information should be in the body of the email (not in your attachment).
* Be designed for Pathfinder Roleplaying Game/3rd Edition D&D or for 4th Edition D&D.
* Be 800 words or less and contain 1 full statblock (no more, no less) and the appropriate flavor text and lore to flesh out your creation.
(You should look to previously published Monday Monsters for insight about format and content. The splicer beast and Xaldraxis are good examples.)
We are looking for monsters of all kinds and all levels. Even a CR 1/4 Small reptilian humanoid can rise to be king!
Check out the full post here!

Savage Mojo was formed under the name ‘Talisman Studios’ in 2003 as an art and design studio to the adventure games industry, the brainchild of master artists Jason Engle and Aaron Acevedo. The studio is an Origins Award Winner (for Deadlands Reloaded), and has worked on hundreds of products. In May 2007 the company stepped up a gear, becoming a publisher in its own right, starting with its Gamescapes line of game accessories and building up to the launch of Suzerain. 2008 saw the company work on more than a hundred high art gaming products, with Suzerain being Origins Award semi-finalists. 2009 expanded the range of books and game accessories further and brought products to print for the first time. 2010 sees Savage Mojo in game shops everywhere through a partnership with Cubicle 7.
Suzerain is a multi-genre, multi-world game universe, Origins Award nominated in 2008. Ron Blessing of The Game’s The Thing (www.thegamesthething.com) had this to say about it, “I can't wait to spend time in this playground. As a whole it’s awesome. Suzerain can be as simple or detailed as the players and GM want. The art is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully it's obvious I'm pretty high on this product. Wow. Just wow.” Suzerain is available for the award-winning Savage Worlds rules system (see http://bit.ly/SavageSuzerainPlayNowForFree to try it out), and as a free download using its own Mojo Rules! system (from http://bit.ly/SuzerainMojo).

[Open Design] New Adventure Project: Streets of Zobeck!
Posted by: Anonymous on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 - 09:42 PM EDT
|
The rich in Zobeck are very, very rich. And the poor kobold miners, dwarven smiths and human adventurers who clip a few coins and mug a few merchant princes... Well, who can blame them? The city is filled with the dark plots of evil men, and some of the darkest will provide the basis for our next Open Design project. Rob the Thieves’ Guild, buy your own brothel, or double-cross the captain of the guards; it’s time to ditch the monster-bashing and live a life of real adventure.
The Streets of Zobeck: Tales of Treachery adventure anthology for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is a grittier set of adventures than the award-winning Tales of Zobeck anthology -- and one filled with more trickery, more hard-boiled action, and more anti-heroes and women of easy virtue.
Meet the crimelords of the Cloven Nine, tangle with the kobold smugglers in the Cartways or propose your own dark urban adventure. Open Design veteran Ben McFarland is the lead designer, and you could design one or more chapters of the anthology as well.
Visit the Kobold Store and add your two cents to this Open Design project today! (Note: For this anthology we will be checking everyone’s two cents to see if they’re forgeries. You know what they say about honor among thieves...)

Maschine Zeit - Sci-Fi Horror RPG
Posted by: Anonymous on Monday, June 28, 2010 - 07:47 AM EDT
|
The ghosts hate intruders You are an intruder They hate you You can watch the game's trailer here.
The year is 2110. In 2105, over a tenth of the world's population died when a number of space stations orbiting Earth went dead. The radiation that killed them had an unexpected side effect: The victims now haunt the halls, possessing machinery and threatening anyone that dares travel inside.
Maschine Zeit is a sci-fi/horror RPG from Machine Age Productions. The game's mechanics focus on movie logic, encouraging dramatic behavior and offering players control over most of the narrative. The game emulates the conventions of such genre works as Alien, Pandorum, Event Horizon and Dead Space. The game comes with a ZIP file, which includes an HTML version for ease of use on your netbook, iPad or other device. Maschine Zeit is licensed under a Creative Commons license.
Maschine Zeit can be now purchased in PDF.
We've released a short adventure called Ephesus Abbey to coincide with that, you can purchase the two together for only a dollar more here.
You can find more about Maschine Zeit at Machine Age Productions.
